Beautiful Spring Days

The last few weeks have been so nice here. The weather has been a perfect 70 degrees. It has been so nice. I have so enjoyed walking the dogs on the trail. In the midst of a stressful work schedule and the pressure of silence this has been my daily escape from reality.
The wildflowers are gorgeous, the birds saranade us with singing. In the woods there are always deer there, watching as we walk by. Sometimes they run out and accorss the trail and my dogs are like, "are we at the dog park?"
I love this place so much I just had to scrap about the beauty of my favotie place on earth.

Mrs. Irene's "Birthday"

Last week I was sitting with Mrs. Irene on my birthday. She mentioned to me that her 92nd birthday was back in April but she didn't get to do anything in celebration because she was in the hospital.
So she and I decided that the next Saturday I was to be with her we would celebrate both of our birthdays on that day. A week later she had forgotten :)
I went to the store and bought her an angel food cake (her favorite) and some stuff to make cupcakes.
We played in the kitchen most of the day, which is her favorite thing to do. I love it too, she teaches me so much. It is amazing that she can recall the details of so many recipes.
The day turned out wonderful. Some kids in the nieghborhood came to see her and get a cupcake...it lights up her day if she can see any child.
It was a "birthday" I will never forget.

A Wonderful Birthday

Thank you everyone for making this a special birthday. I am happily 24 now!
I had to work the whole weekend, so I didn't do anything special.
What I love about birthdays is the fresh start. The beginning of another year. Another chance to make changes and alterations to your life.
I always make resolutions. This year there was only one thing that I wane to focus on. I want to start reading a lot more. I always seem to be reading something, but this year I want to go after them books in a focused way.
1. I want to finish reading all of the C.S. Lewis books.
2. Read the classics. Mark Twain said that they are the books we want to read but never do. That is me I guess.
3. Make a really cool book journal of my conquests.

One cool thing happened on my birthday. I made this list the day before of my hopes for the new year of my life.
That day I was taking care of Mrs. Irene. She is 92. She knew it was my birthday and said that since she doesn't have a way to get me anything, she offered to let me have as many of her antique books in the basement that I want.
I collect antique books, so that was really cool. Some of the classics that I plan to read this year were among the ones that I chose.
Jesus is so attentive to the details of my life.

This scrapbook page-I did in honor of my birthday. In honor of my mama too. She took this picture of me and it has always been a favorite of mine. It was my first birthday.

The Best Subjects

I just think that Jamie is so lucky to have these 3 beautiful boys......I am sure being a mom is great and all, but I think having such great scrapbooking subjects is really the perk!
Anyway, I love seeing fresh pictures of them. The one of Joshua in the hat is just precious and one of my favorites.
I also adore the one of Luke and Jacob walking on the dock. They are in color while the world around them is in black and white. The C.S. Lewis quote really tells the story of why.
Thanks Jamie for having such great little subjects.
I'll just have to scrap them unitl I have my own :)
